Olmsted Linear Park.
Olmsted Linear Park is a 45-acre greenspace and old-growth forest that meanders along Ponce de Leon Avenue. Designed by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted in the late 1890’s, this beloved treasure is on the National Register of Historic Places alongside Central Park, Biltmore Estate - even our beautiful neighborhood of Druid Hills.
The park, which serves as the eastern gateway to and from downtown Atlanta, consists of six picturesque segments that are home to a lush tree canopy and vibrant wildlife habitat.
The Olmsted Linear Park Alliance, also known as OLPA, is the 501 c3 charitable nonprofit organization that oversees the management and preservation of Olmsted Linear Park. It was started in August 1995 when neighbors and non-profit organizations joined forces to come up with a strategy to stabilize and rehabilitate the neglected greenspace. Because tax dollars are not allocated for park support, OLPA relies on donations to fund the vast majority of park maintenance and projects.
OLPA hosts and partners in a variety of community events and programming in the park. Supporters enable our organization to engage with experts to build a stronger, healthier native plant ecosystem. In turn, wildlife can flourish, storm impact can be minimized, and our visitors can safely enjoy our enchanting trails.
